Ms. Salgado
My name is Paola Salgado. I was born in Colombia, where I studied Biology and Environmental Education and taught Biology for 3 years. In 1999, I moved to the United States and embarked on a journey of cultural adaptation, language learning, and establishing a new life. This transformative experience inspired me to pursue a Master’s degree in Bilingual Education at Hunter College.
Since completing my graduate studies, I have been deeply committed to bilingual education. I support students in developing strong language skills while enriching their academic growth. I believe that every child has the capacity to learn new languages and to use language as a bridge to deeper understanding. For me, bilingualism, biliteracy, and multiculturalism are not only gateways to opportunity. They are essential pillars of equity that foster empathy, celebrate diverse identities, and cultivate inclusive communities where all voices are valued.
